Major Activities |
POVERTY -Through the Greater Spokane coalition Against Poverty, we provide training to help poverty advocates and low income people address issues of affordable housing and living wages. -Through the Interfaith Disaster Response, we connect emergency response people with church leaders. RACISM -At Camp PEACE (People Everywhere ARe Created Equal) retreats, we provide anti-bigotry training for teams of students who develop plans for their high schools. -With Churches Against Racism, we foster response of churches to racism. ADVOCACY -The annual Eastern Washington Legislative Action Event informs church leaders on issues before the legislative session. HUNGER -By organizing the annual CROP Hunger Walk, we educate people on hunger and involve them in a simple, tangible action to support development and relief. DIALOGUE -The Council gathers the religious community for Pastoral Dialogues and Community Forums on issues that divide the community and churches. CONNECTION -Through The Fig Tree newspaper, the Council covers religion and justice news in a style that builds cooperation and understanding and motivates action. -Our Directory of Churches and Community Agencies equips church and community leaders with ready awareness of ministry resources in the area. -Church Leadership Orientation CELEBRATION -We plan an annual Community Easter Sunrise Service and an annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. |
